Question:
This topic doesn't really fit doctrine, but I found it appropriate as it evokes questions regarding morals. Regarding the legal consumption of alcohol, is moderation (no more than a glass of wine or beer a night) acceptable in a Spirit-filled life?
Answer:
The Bible condemns drunkenness (see Proverbs 23:21; 1 Corinthians 6:10; Ephesians 5:18). We are instead taught to be sober-minded (see Titus 2:6 and 1 Timothy 3:2). We believe that the best way to avoid ever being bitten by a rattlesnake is to never pick one up and the best way to avoid ever getting drunk is to never consume an alcoholic beverage.
