Question:
If the Word in John 1:1 is a Plan, what does it mean by 'the Word' in 1 John 5:7, which says, 'For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Answer:
God is the source of all things (the Father). He conceived the plan for the creation and redemption of man (the Word). The plan was that He would personally bring salvation to man (the Word was with God and the Word was God). He put His plan into action by taking on human flesh (the Word became flesh and dwelled among us). He then fulfilled His plan by inhabiting human beings through the gift of the Holy Spirit (the Holy Ghost). This is how the one true God brought salvation to man. The Word is the same in 1 John 5:7 as it is in John 1:1 and 1:14.
