Revelation 13 describes a time when a beast-like entity will arise to power. Verse 7 says, 'And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation.' Verse 8 says, 'All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life.' And verse 17 says, 'No one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.' These verses indicate that the time preceding the revelation of Jesus Christ will be characterized by a one-world ruler, a one-world religion, and a one-world economic system. These are the attributes usually associated with the so-called New World Order.
