Question:
What can you say if someone is not a trinitarian, but believes that the Father is the only God and Jesus Christ is the Lord and Christ and Saviour who was sent by the Father and came from the Father. God our Father did not gave to Jesus the Spirit by measure, compared to other prophets. God has raised Him from the dead and made Him Lord and Christ. Will the giving of authority make sense?
Answer:
Absolutely the giving of authority is the only thing that makes sense. How would this man, Jesus of Nazareth, have any authority except the Supreme Spirit give it to Him? Romans 13:1 says, 'For there is no authority except from God.' Jesus said , 'For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself, and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man' (John 5:26-27). Why did He give Him authority? Because He is the Son of Man--a human being.
