Malachi 3:1 says, 'Behold, I send My messenger, and he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, will suddenly come to His temple....' John 2:21 says, 'But He was speaking of the temple of His body.' The first part of Malachi 3:1 refers to John the Baptist (see Mark 1:2). The second part refers to Jesus, which was fulfilled on the various ocassions when Jesus visted the Temple in Jerusalem. John 2 records one of these visit, but Jesus used this ocassion to show that His physical body was the fulfillment of the Temple, for God would no longer live in buildings made with men's hands, but in living human temples (see Acts 17:24 and 1 Corinthians 3:16).
