Question:
Out of fear, Abraham lied to the king that Sarah was his sister. Why was God silent and did not punish him for lying?
Answer:
First, how do you know God didn't punish him? Second, what punishment would you consider to be appropriate when someone lies out of fear? Third, how did you get such a distorted view of God? David wrote, 'The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities' (Psalms 103:8-10).
