Question:
Hi, and thank you for your site. I have really been searching the Net for good Apostolic information databases. I am going to be having a Bible study with a friend of mine and two of her Mormon friends. They have agreed to leave the Book of Mormon at home, but I am unsure as to what would be the best introductory topic for a Bible study. Mormons believe in 3 gods, no hell, and quite a few other bizarre and non-Biblical doctrines. Thank you for your help, and all you do!
Answer:
We suggest starting out by emphasizing the Bible as the uniquely inspired Word of God and Jesus as the only way of salvation (2 Timothy 3:16; John 14:6). Then show that there is only one gospel (Galatians 1:6-9), which is the message of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Then show that we are saved by believing the gospel and being baptized (Mark 16:15-16). You could also show that all who do not obey the gospel will be punished with everlasting destruction (2 Thessalonians 1:5-10). This general outline could be a starting place. You can add more detail.
