Question: My daughter is 13 years old, we have been in the church for a little over 2 years. My daughter only gets along with 1 girl her age. There are about 3 or 4 other girls her age, but she says she does not like them, they don't like each other, and my daughter does not hide her feelings. I have noticed that many of the children hide certain behaviors from their parents at our church. My daughter does not, but my daughter is probably critized by other parents who think their daughters don't behave that way. We discipline our daughter, we are very involved with our daughter, we are affectionate, and love her very much. I just do not know what to do about her relationships at church.

Answer: It sounds as though the other girls may not be a good influence on your daughter. We suggest you keep an open relationship with her and allow her to freely express her feelings about her friendships or lack of friendships. Give her lots of comfort and support. Perhaps over time she will find a couple of godly girls that she can be friends with.
