Answer: |
The name Jesus is an English word derived from the Hebrew name Yeshua. Both words have the same meaning, they are simply different languages. Since Jesus and His family lived in Israel and spoke Hebrew, He was undoubtedly called Yeshua. But since we speak English, it is perfectly fine to call Him Jesus. When I was in Jordan the Arabs called Him Yesha. In Spanish His name is pronounced Hey-soos. In France it is pronounced Je-soo. The differences are not in the name, only in the language.
