Question: Doesn't our Lord God have female qualities as well as the strong manly attributes? He made male and female in his image. Also, wisdom seems to be addressed as a woman. The Church is always spoken of as a Bride. Women and mothers in general seem to be more sacrificing and long suffering and love so much stronger than men from what I have seen in my 40 plus years. What is your imput? Thanks and God bless.

Answer: Yes, God made man in His own image and then made woman out a piece of man. As you say, man represents the stronger aspects of God's attributes while woman represents the softer virtues. Together, man and woman form the complete image of God. Having said this, it is important to understand that all of God's attributes are contained within man alone, since when God took on a physical image, He appeared as a man (Colossians 1:15). And concerning this image it is said that all the fulness of the Godhead dwells in Him bodily (Colossians 2:9). Yet Jesus calls the Church 'flesh of His flesh and bone of His bone' (Ephesians 5:30-31). Just as Eve was contained in Adam and taken out of Adam to display certain of His softer attributes, so it is that the Church comes forth from Jesus Christ to reveal certain of His attributes (see Ephesians 3:10-11). Oh, the mysteries of God. How wonderful are His ways!
