Question: Is it okay to donate blood? organs?

Answer: We are not aware of any Scriptures that would prohibit a believer from donating his blood or organs. You may be aware that Jehovah's Witnesses prohibit blood transfusions, but we find no biblical basis for their position. Leviticus 17:11 tells us that 'the life of the flesh is in the blood.' We know that Jesus gave His life for us by shedding His blood. To lay down one's life for another is a high value in the Scriptures. This would indicate that donating blood to save the life of another would be a noble gesture. The same analogy would not apply to organ donations, but as we have said, we find no prohibitions in the Bible. This is one of those matters that each individual must decide on for himself.
