Question:
Are there games permissible for saints to play, checkers for one?
Answer:
We do not know of any Scriptures that prohibit the playing of games such as checkers, chess, backgammon, etc. The larger isuue would be how we use our time. For example, playing a game of checkers may not be a problem, but playing for hours every day would not be a proper use of the limited time we have all been entrusted with to advance the kingdom of God. Ephesians 5:15-16 says, 'See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.'
