Why do some deny the works of the Spirit?

Question:
Hello. I was wondering if you knew why some 'Christian' groups deny today's works of the Holy Spirit. Why do some people claim that the spirit baptism, speaking in tongues, and the spiritual gifts were meant just for the early church, the people who lived in the times of the apostles? They will argue that it wasn't meant for the Christians after that, according to the Bible. So what I'm asking is why do people argue this?? Are their claims really supported Biblically? Thanks in advance for your help.
Answer:
We cannot say why some people deny the spiritual works you have named. You will have to ask them. Obviously there have been unbelievers and naysayers from the beginning. But just because some people reject the truth, this does not diminish God in any way and we should not allow it to diminish our faith.
