Question:
I do not understand Luke 16 first parable, especially verse 8. Thank you for your help toward understanding. Even commentaries such as Matthew Henry confuse me regarding this!
Answer:
Jesus is warning that sometimes His own people misuse their stewardship for their own ends rather than for God's ends. And we know that the consequence will be destruction in the lake of fire. He sums up by saying that sometimes the people of the world are smarter than God's people; that is, the man in the parable was shrewd enough to take action to prevent being let out in the cold (so to speak). So why aren't God's people wise enough to do the same thing. As long as we are still breathing there is time to make corrections in our course.
