Question:
Explain the word: I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise. Luke 23:43
Answer:
Luke 23:42-43 says, 'Then he said to Jesus, 'Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.' And Jesus said to him, 'Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.'' With these words, Jesus granted this man salvation. While He walked the earth, Jesus granted salvation based on whatever expression of faith He deemed adequate. After His death, the New Testament came into force. Since that time, salvation has been predicated on a proper response to the gospel, which is repentance, baptism in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, and receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit.
