Many books have been written on this subject, so to try to answer your question in detail on this question and answer board would be impossible. The one thing we can say is what Jesus said about it: 'I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep' (John 10:11). If you want to be a good pastor, be willing to lay down your life for the people you are leading. You may also want to read some of the articles we have posted on our Apostolic Free Library, especially those on Shelf 4.
