Women are free to wear headscarves if they want to, but there is nothing in the Bible that require them to do so. 1 Corinthians 11:15 clearly states that 'if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her; for her hair is given to her for a covering.' This passage says nothing about headscarves. Instead is says that a woman's long hair is her covering. The word translated 'long hair' means freely growing hair. The implication is that she is allowing her hair to grow; she is not cutting it. That's the covering, regardless of the actual length of her hair. This means that any woman can have the God-ordained covering (literally veil) the moment she decides that she will no longer cut her hair.
