So far as we know, there are two kinds of swords: those that soldiers fight with and people use to protect themselves, and what Paul called 'sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God' (Ephesians 6:17). This is referring to the spoken word, not merely the Bible. This idea comes through in Revelation 2:16 which says, 'Repent, or else I will come to you quickly and will fight against them with the sword of My mouth,' and Revelation 19:15, which says, 'Now out of His mouth goes a sharp sword, that with it He should strike the nations.'
