Question:
I believe in the apostolic faith, but my question is: where did the baptism doctrine come from?
Answer:
The doctrine of baptism for the remission of sins began with John the Baptist (Mark 1:4-5). It was certified and taught by Jesus Christ (Luke 7:28-30; Mark 16:15-16; Matthew 28:18-20). It was preached and practiced by the apostles (Acts 2:38-41; Acts 8:16; Acts 10:44-48; Acts 19:1-6; Acts 22:16). And it was elaborated on in the Epistles (Romans 6:1-4; Galatians 3:27; Colossians 2:11-12; 1 Peter 3:20-21).
We have several articles on New Testament baptism on the Doctrine shelf of the Apostolic Free Library.
