Question:
I am 68 years old. I have been going to church all my life. I think I remember being baptized very young, maybe around 14 or so. I was sprinkled as a Presbyterian. BECAUSE I'M NOT SURE AND DON'T HAVE ANY FAMILY TO VERIFY SHOULD I BE BAPTISED NOW? My new church dunks in the lake. I like this method, but is baptism necessary for me at this time?
Answer:
Your age and the length of time you have been 'going to church' is irrevelant. Everyone needs to repent and be baptized (which means fully immersed) in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins (see Acts 2:38). This is the only way to receive forgiven of one's sins. For more on this subject, please read our article 'Is Baptism Necessary for Salvation?' on Shelf 1 of the Apostolic Free Library on this website.
