In 1 Peter 3:3-4 the apostle wrote, 'Do not let your adornment be merely outward — arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel — rather let it be the hidden person of the heart....'
Revelation 17:4 describes the great harlot (perhaps representing a false church) as 'arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls....'
In contrast, Revelation 19:8 describes the bride of Christ as 'arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright....'
