Question:
I have just recently came back to the Lord. I met a girl in the church and began dating her a few years ago. Unfortunately she backslide last summer we broke up. However, a couple of weeks later we began talking again and I then left the church. We lived together for almost a year after leaving the church and got engaged. However, about a year went by and I found out she was cheating on me with another man. We then broke up and by God's amazing grace I ended up back in the church. However, it wasn't a couple weeks later that my ex starting coming back to the church as well. I still have feelings for this girl. We were together quite a few years while we was in church and like I stated before, lived together for a year while we were both out. My heart was broken and God has truly helped me through all these trails. But now seeing her in the same house of God that I attend is just bringing up old feelings. I have prayed and prayed and talked to my elder. He keeps telling me to not worry about tomorrow and keep my mind and focus on God. I feel like I am at a cross roads right now and just do not know what to do. Quitting church again has not even come across my mind. I am so thankful to be back in the house of the Lord, but it is hard seeing her there every service. Any words of wisdoms would surely help. Thanks
Answer:
Our sins have a way of coming back around and bringing us trouble. This experience will be a good opportunity for you to learn self-control, which is one of the most important character traits you can have as a believer. If you had had more self-control in the past, you wouldn't be in this situation today.
