The most obvious form of birth control is abstinence. As for the other modern forms such as injesting chemicals, using contraceptive devices, and abortions, the one the Bible clearly rejects is abortion. The others the Bible does not address in any direct way. We have two things to say about them, however. First, as a general principle, the Bible commends married couples for having many children (Psalms 127:4-5), and second, the Bible indicates that God causes conception and knows every person in the womb before birth (Psalms 139:13-14; Jeremiah 1:5). These two ideas suggest to us that God's people ought to let nature take its course and have as many children as God chooses to give them.
