What is the great falling away?

Question: Could you please speak to the event called the great falling away? Is it a falling away from the like precious faith espoused by the Apostolic church or is it speaking of the world at large? If it is speaking of the like precious faith how do I ensure I dont fall away? If it is speaking of the world at large, then what are they falling away from? Thank you and keep up the great work!
Answer: We believe the 'falling away' spoken of in 2 Thessalonians 2 is a falling away from the true faith. It is not a falling away of the world at large, since the world has always been disconnected from God (which is why we are to go into all the world and preach the gospel). We believe the falling away will be precipitated by the persecution of believers in the last days. Persecution always separates those with shallow faith from those with deep faith.
