Isn't divorce an option?

Question:
I read your comment on divorce and agree that it is a perversion of God's Word to divorce on the grounds of 'falling out'. But, I would like to see your biblical justification for not divorcing a spouse for adultery, when Matthew 5:32 seems to clearly say different. Still love you guys.
Answer:
Matthew 5:32 says, 'But I say to you that whoever divorces his wife for any reason except sexual immorality causes her to commit adultery; and whoever marries a woman who is divorced commits adultery.' Jesus didn't say that it's okay for a man to divorce his wife due to adultery; He said that if a man does that, he is not causing her to commit adultery. This is because if he is divorcing her for that reason, it's because she has already done it. He is therefore not causing her to do it. It is a misreading of Jesus' words to say that He is endorsing divorce because of adultery.
We should keep in mind what the Lord said to Hosea, 'Go again, love a woman who is loved by a lover and is committing adultery, just like the love of the Lord for the children of Israel, who look to other gods....' (Hosea 3:1). Doesn't the Lord want us to have this same spirit?
