Was God's throne ever empty?

Question:
After Jesus died on the cross of Calvary, was the throne of God unattended?
Answer:
The death of Jesus Christ was the death of God's humanity, not His deity. Even as the deceased body of Jesus lay in the tomb, God continued to rule over His creation. There has never been a time, and never could be a time, when God ceased to be God, the Creator and Ruler of all things.
Your question points to the necessity of distinguishing between the humanity of Jesus (the flesh) and the deity of Jesus (the Spirit). The Spirit is eternal, without beginning and without end. The flesh was born on a particular day in human history, lived and breathed, died on a particular day, and rose again. The flesh is now immortal, which means that God's humanity can never die again. This is also the promise that awaits all who obey the gospel.
