Will the earth be destroyed by fire?

Question: Will this present earth be destroyed by fire? If yes, will it be like when God destroyed the earth with water in Noah days?
Answer: 2 Peter 3:10 says, 'But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.' This event will take place in conjunction with the coming of the Lord Jesus (see 2 Peter 3:4-9). In Matthew 24:37, Jesus said that the days of His coming would be like the days of the flood.
