Question:
Is Rick Warren's method of church growth biblical? It is being used by many apostolic ministers, but should it be?
Answer:
In Rick Warren's book 'The Purpose Driven Church,' he sets forth five principles of purpose which we believe to be completely sound from a biblical perspective. He also makes many other very good points about how churches become healthy and what causes churches to be unhealthy. We have gleaned a lot of good ideas from this book. We do not, however, subscribe to everything Rick Warren has written about, and we especially believe his doctrine of salvation is unbiblical. We would therefore have to say that, as is the case with many books, we agree with some of it and we disagree with some.
If you have a question about a specific element of Rick Warren's teachings, we would be glad to address it. But to speak of 'Rick Warren's method of church growth' is too large a subject to address in detail in venue.
