Question: Is it ok for a pastor to pay his tithes to the same church that he is pastoring? Who should a pastor pay his tithes to?

Answer: We believe that all members of a local assembly should bring their tithes into the local storehouse, which is the local assembly. This would include those who are serving in leadership roles. We do not believe the doctrine that one man (the Pastor) is entitled to pocket all the tithes that come into a local assembly, which in some cases comes to hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. The tithe principle is not God's plan for making a few people rich. It is His plan for supporting the work of ministry in the local assembly.
