How do elders come to decisions?

Question:
If a decision needs to be made and the elders are divided equally on the issue, how then is the decision made?
Answer:
We consider such differences to be a indication that we have not all heard clearly from the Lord as yet. This means that we must continue to pray and seek the Lord for His direction. The goal of the elders is not to build a consensus around one course of action that is acceptable to everyone. It is to hear from God and do whatever He is telling us. Of course, those who don't believe that God communicates with man would have a difficult time grasping this approach to leadership.
