Question: Greetings in Jesus Name. I have noticed that many women are in the Bible, Miriam, Deborah, Junia just to name a few. Is it biblical for women to be in the fivefold ministry (apostles, prophets, pastors, Evangelists, and teachers)? Will God give a spiritual gift to whomever is saved (Acts 2:38) or do you have to earn spiritual gifts? Does God give all nine spritual gifts to one person, be it woman or man? Bless You.

Answer: We will take your questions in the order asked:

1. We believe it is not biblical for women to participate in the equipping gifts you have named. This does not mean that women cannot prophesy or teach, only that they do so in a limited way and under the authority and oversight of the local church elders. Please see our article in the Apostolic Free Library titled 'The Role of Women in the Local Assembly.'

2. A gift cannot by its very nature be earned. If you earn something, it is not a gift. The Bible tells us that 'one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills' (1 Corinthians 12:11). God gives gifts to whoever He wills.

3. Our belief is that the only person who ever had all nine spiritual gifts was Jesus Christ. The rest of us get some gifts but not all.
