What was God before Christ came?

Question:
Before Christ came, how would you describe God? Is he living? In what form God was He? Does he have a person of His own?
Answer:
Before God added the dimension of humanity to Himself, He was pure Spirit. By this we mean that He was a powerful, omnipresent, intelligent Being just as He continues to be today. During the Old Testament period God appeared in various temporary forms, but now He has appeared once for all time in human flesh. Prior to coming in the flesh, God had no permanent form; He was Spirit. The idea that the Father is one person and the Son another person is a heresy originally promoted by so-called Christian Gnostics and advanced by a man named Justin Martyr (mid second century).
