Question:
When John the Baptist baptized Jesus, what did he say? 'in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit', or did he say 'In Jesus' name'?
Answer:
We do not know what John said because the Bible does not tell us. It is doubtful he baptized in any name.
To real question is not whose name John baptized in, since John's baptism became obsolete after Jesus initiated the New Testament. We do know for certain that after Pentecost the apostles baptized only in the name of Jesus (Acts 2:38; Acts 8:16; Acts 10:48; Acts 19:5; Acts 22:16). The reason they did this is because there is NO OTHER NAME under heaven given among men whereby we MUST BE SAVED (Acts 4:12).
