Who ruled while Jesus was dead?

Question:
If Jesus is LORD and He died on the cross and rose on the 3rd day, during that 3 days who ruled the world?
Answer:
The Bible says that Jesus offered Himself on the cross 'through the eternal Spirit' (Hebrews 9:14). When we say that Jesus is LORD, we are saying that He is God (who is a Spirit) manifested in the flesh (humanity) (see John 4:24 and 1 Timothy 3:16). On the cross, it was only the humanity that died. The Spirit is eternal and cannot die. Therefore, while the humanity of Jesus lay in the tomb for three days, the eternal Spirit continued to rule the universe just as He always had.
The key to understanding this is to recognize that when God became man, He did not cease to be God in any respect. He only added humanity to Himself. The humanity died and was raised, but that did not prevent His Godhood (the Spirit) from continuing on fully as God.
