Deuteronomy 22:5 and 1 Timothy 2:9. Pants were derived from the practice of girding up the loins, which means pulling the bottom of your robe up bewteen the legs and tucking it into a girtle. This got the robe out of the way so that the person could run or work. It was done ONLY by men. Later the robe was simple replaced with pants (breeches) by some societies.
